Sometimes, when the apartment has been loud with light all day, I turn everything off.
Not because anything is wrong.
Just to remind myself what the room looks like without electricity, and what I look like without a screen.
01 · The Gothic Candle Holder
This one is black iron, with little crown-shaped details that make it look like it was lifted from a very old church.
It holds three candles, which is more than enough to read by, and less than enough to feel like daytime. On those nights, the shadows it throws on the wall are the whole entertainment.
02 · For the Small Things
A tray for the small things — the candle, the half-finished tea, the rings I take off at the end of the day. The metal is brushed and floral, the edges scalloped like an old photograph. I like that it isn't new. It looks like it was already here, waiting to hold my evening.
